Watch video onlyOne candidate answers key questions in this video.
[1s] Who are you and why are standing in this election?
[26s] Hello, I'm Councillor Sarah Judson and I am the Labour candidate for Eastley North.
[33s] I moved to Eastle five years ago.
[35s] i'm a Boyett Wood parish Counsellor.
[39s] Eastly Borough Council has been controlled by the Liberal Democrats for far too long and it's time for a change.
[46s] Hello.I'm Carl Hunter.i'm the parish counsellors for Boyet Wood and i am a Conservative Party candidate I am standing in this election as I want to make
[59s] a positive difference to the local community where I have lived in my entire life and I give young people a voice in local politics.
[73s] What level of service can residents expect from you if you are successful in the election?
[82s] Apart from the time that I spend being a volunteer driver for charities, I have as much time as is needed to represent the residents of Buitwood.
[91s] I'm retired from a civil service and private industry job as a VAT specialist.
[101s] work with their colleagues on the parish councils to provide a full representation that the residents are entitled to expect.
[110s] I would hold regular surgeries to hear residents' views and to pursue the resolution of their problems.
[117s] If I'm elected, I'd look to actively engage with all residents, listen to their issues and find effective solutions.
[124s] And I also would ensure a clear line of communication between the parish councils of Boywood and Umbrick with Eastley Borough Council so we can find an effective,
[135s] positive solution for all residents.
[139s] What are your plans regarding improving the environment around Eastleigh, regreening and air pollution?
[147s] Improving the environmental in Eastle is not limited to regreeling or air pollution, but I'll start there.
[157s] I was astonished direct bus route from Eastley Central to Southampton Hospital.
[168s] The bus routes that do exist have to be an attractive alternative to cars.
[176s] We need to address this.
[179s] Eastleigh Borough Council has been lax in enforcing tree preservation orders and taking action against illegal tree cutting.
[192s] to be addressed.
[194s] Where is the tree officer?
[197s] We need to challenge Southern Water over their discharge of sewage into the River Itchen.
[205s] As a member of the Hampshire and Isle Wildlife Trusts I would look to seek their advice regarding maintaining and sustaining a biodiverse habitat for native
[219s] species including plants, trees and animals.
[222s] and I would also look to get involved with the tree strategy scheme at Eastley Borough Council, whether that be maintaining our existing crop or planting
[233s] new ones, I think is a great initiative.
[235s] If you don't get elected, what's the biggest thing residents will miss out on?
[241s] Eastly Borough council needs diversity in representation.
[245s] So long the council has been lived in, with very few alternatives being heard or even listened to.
[253s] They have pursued policies that have brought the Council near to bankruptcy.
[258s] Services have suffered and will continue to suffer without a plan for the economic revival of Easter.
[267s] Labour has the plan.
[270s] Lib Dems and Tories don't.
[273s] Labour is committed to the establishment of a community wealth building strategy supporting community-owned businesses and investing in local businesses.
[286s] The elimination of wasteful spending which doesn't support residents.
[292s] I think the biggest thing that residents would miss out on should I not be elected is someone who's young, willing to learn,
[302s] all residents' issues, find effective solutions, and then clearly communicate that with all the residents.
[310s] One last call, anything you'd like to say?
[312s] Never believe that you have to vote Liberal Democrat to keep out the Tories.
[319s] If you've been misled by the Lib Den propaganda, think again.
[323s] if you support Labour, vote Labour.
[328s] And please, don't forget your voter ID.
[333s] Thank you for your time, for watching and listening to myself and all other candidates.
[340s] It is very much appreciated and please do take the opportunity to vote in the local elections on the 4th of May, regardless who you choose.
[349s] I'd also like to thank Adam, Earth, Organising the House of Things, he's done a brilliant job.
[354s] And in interim, please feel free to reach out to anyone on Boitwood or Ebrooke Parish Council along with your from ECT bar representatives.
[364s] Thank you.
