Why do we collect data?

We collect data in an effort to improve awareness of local events, businesses, and improve democracy and raise awareness of candidate information at election time. We also collect data with an aim of improving the services we provide.

Visitors

When visitors visit this website, the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string are temporarily stored to help fault analysis.

Cookies

If you visit our login page or any form, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded by your browser after 14 days.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for 14 days. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

YouTube & Vimeo

Articles on this site may include embedded content from YouTube or Vimeo. Embedded content behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

MailChimp

We use mailchimp to manage our email subscriber list in order to increase engagement and awareness. Mailchimp will only be provided with your Full name, email address, and ward.

Mapping Data

We make use of third party data to map postcodes to wards, and local authorities so that we can make information easier for users to digest. These data sources are held locally, and so no realtime data from you is exposed to these third parties.

Democracy Club

We make use of democracy club data to validate candidate names, and provide access to more detailed candidate profiles.

Who we share your data with

Your data will not be shared with any other 3rd party. Your email address may be seen by 3rd parties as any email to you traverses through their email systems.

How long do we retain your data

Your data will be maintained indefinitely until you ask to be removed from the list, or we detect your email address no longer exists. You can request data deletion by emailing [email protected].

What rights do you have over your data?

Right to be informed: We will inform you if we intend to share your private data with any third parties.

Right of access: We will provide you with a copy of all data we hold on you on request.

Right of rectification: We will correct any information which is inaccurate about you upon request.

Right to be forgotten or deleted: We will on request anonymise posts made by you, but we reserve the right to keep the content you produced otherwise this may leave significant gaps in readability for other users. You can request your user data is removed or anonymised by emailing [email protected]

Right to object: You have a right to not agree to the way we use data and suggest an alternative method. You also have the option to unsubscribe and anonymise your activity.
