[1s] Who are you and why are standing?

[30s] I am Binka Griffin and I'm standing because I believe everyone deserves the right to have an actual vote, not a pick between two parties,

[36s] a picked between multiple different people that all care about the area they live in.

[40s] Hello, I m Davina Poole and am standing as the Labour parliamentary candidate in this new constituency of Hamble Valley.

[49s] My background isn't political.

[50s] I s a business leader who has spent my career building and growing businesses and teams in the UK.

[56s] I'm a qualified accountant, a physics graduate from the University of Surrey and most importantly a mum to my amazing four-year-old son who is my absolute world.

[67s] He was born the week before lockdown in March 2020, seeing the government's complete mismanagement of the Covid crisis, spiralling food and energy prices,

[76s] working people having to go to food banks and then the mini budget that crashed what was left of our economy, sending mortgage rates through the roof.

[85s] After 14 years of chaos and austerity most of us are no better off.

[89s] In fact, most us feel a lot worse off and that's why I'm here now.

[93s] I want to help deliver a Labour government to give us the change we all need and it would be an absolute honour to be the voice that represents Hamble

[102s] Valley in Parliament.

[103s] Hello, my name is Kate Needham and I am the Green Party candidate for Hamable Valley.

[109s] People say that my attributes are hard work, passion and determination and that I do things in a practical, friendly, down to earth way.

[121s] For many years I was a secondary school teacher in Hamble Valley and more recently I've been a carer for my elderly mum.

[129s] And most importantly, now I'm a grandmother.

[132s] And this has made me really think about how urgently we need to change tack.

[138s] I want my grandchildren and children to be able to paddle in the seaside without fear of getting sick from the sewage.

[146s] and be able to cycle to a local school safely.

[149s] I want them to be to afford to live here when they get older.

[153s] It breaks my heart that over a million children are living in destitution.

[159s] And that is why I'm standing for the Green Party in this election.

[164s] Hi I'm Paul Holmes, I am the Conservative candidate for the Hamble Valley and previously served as the Member of Parliament for Eastley for five years.

[171s] I live in Hedge End and I've standing because I want to make a difference to our area over the next five year with my six point plan.

[179s] And I believe that I have a track record that has shown that we've managed to made our are an even better place to live over last five How long have you

[202s] lived in this constituency?

[205s] I'm only 19 but I've lived the Hampshire area my whole life.

[210s] I don't currently live in Hamble Valley, but I have been commuting three to four times a week as part of this election campaign by train and road,

[218s] so I certainly understand the accessibility and transport issues many of you face.

[222s] If I'm privileged enough to be elected by you, a local presence is an absolute non-negotiable for me.

[228s] I need to live the constituency as all of I'm working hard for every vote here and I am committed to work hard, for all of you to be your voice in Westminster,

[238s] to stand up for the issues affecting you.

[242s] I came to Winchester in 1982 and for most of my career I worked as a secondary school teacher in Hamble Valley and more recently I was a carer for my elderly

[254s] mum for several years and just recently i've been campaigning in hamble valley knocking on lots of doors and doing surveys to find out what things are

[264s] important to local residents.

[266s] I recently took action on behalf of residents to get their builders to remove all of the rubbish and barbed wire that they'd left behind,

[275s] and I also did a campaign to keep our ticket offices open.

[279s] Unlike the other candidates standing in Hamble Valley, I don't live in Wimbledon, a county council division outside of Hamble Valley and haven't.

[290s] I've lived in Hedge End for five years, I'm local, and I use all the same services that you do which means I think that I am uniquely qualified to be the

[298s] local candidate and get things done after this general election if elected.

[302s] Which of your party's policies would you like to change?

[307s] Hampshire Independents do not have policies.

[308s] They have a set of principles and each candidate is allowed to make their own policy for the area that they represent.

[317s] It's an absolute disgrace that water companies have been able to pollute our waterways like the humble with complete impunity,

[324s] putting profit before public health and our environment.

[327s] The Labour Party are clear that if we are elected into government, we will hold water company's to full account to clean up their act with significant

[337s] fines and even the potential of criminal charges for water bosses.

[341s] Ideally, I'm in favour of renationalising the water next parliament.

[350s] I'm proud of all of the Green Party policies that are in the manifesto and that's because they're designed to create a fairer and greener society and they've

[360s] been decided on by members democratically and policies such as re-nationalising the water industry for example and their designed also to put right 14

[371s] years of dreadful conservative policies that have led to crumbling roads, crumbling NHS, sewage in our rivers.

[381s] Well of course as a conservative candidate there's a manifesto which I'll be standing on but one of the areas that I wish we'd gone further on was to allow

[388s] local councils to bring grammar schools back or allow councils open new grammar school.

[392s] I think they unlock children's potential and I that there should be a greater mix of choice within the education system.

[399s] Name the one piece of local infrastructure you'd most support building or improving and why.

[405s] I would support improving our sewage systems because I'm fed up of you know human excrement being put into our lovely rivers.

[412s] With local housing developments that have gone up in the recent years and more people and cars moving into the area local voters are frustrated there wasn't

[421s] a more holistic approach to infrastructure to support this.

[425s] Surgeries, local shops, roads, more bus routes seem to have been ignored or overlooked.

[431s] Labour's new towns policy will ensure that new housing is affordable, good quality and has proper infrastructure in place to support it.

[440s] I will work hard to get the improvements we need.

[449s] They can't find a dentist.

[451s] Some people can get their children into the local school.

[454s] And lots of people are saying that they can not get a bus because the bus service has been cut.

[459s] I know that since 2008, bus services across the country have been in cut in half.

[465s] But I think the one infrastructure project that would make the biggest difference is the Green Party policy of building 150,000 council homes a year.

[475s] Infrastructure has been a big focus of my time as the MP over the last five years and it will continue to be so over next.

[482s] We've managed to get the M27 money to resurface the m27, we've manage to the Southampton Airport expansion of the runway done and that's something I'm

[490s] going to focus on over five the years.

[492s] we need to make sure that the Botley bypass is completed on time but also we need to stop infrastructure where possible if it's not suitable for our area.

[501s] That's why I've opposed overdevelopment proposed by the Lib Dem Council and we've stopped the Hamble Quarry.

[508s] What are your thoughts on the current issues and discussions surrounding trans rights?

[514s] I believe they're no different to any other human on this planet.

[517s] I think they deserve the same respect and care that everyone else should be getting.

[521s] Unfortunately, not a lot of them do and that's just due to the way people are raised and the society has currently progressed to now.

[530s] And I thinks it's going to take some time but I'll think we'll get to a point where most people see trans people as just equals to rest of us.

[537s] The Equality Act introduced by Labour in 2010 provides protections for single-sex spaces for women.

[543s] Labour has committed to issuing clearer guidance on this to ensure single sex spaces are protected whilst also modernising,

[550s] simplifying and reforming the Gender Recognition Act.

[554s] I agree completely with the Green Party's stance, which recognises full rights for the LGBTQI plus community, based on inclusion,

[564s] respect and acceptance.

[567s] And I'm really, really pleased that the green party doesn't just sweep this under the carpet.

[573s] Well I think this issue has become quite toxic and I always want to make sure that this debate is as respectful as possible.

[578s] Look, I there are two sexes, male and female, but I that services should be provided for people that are going through a genuine struggle to transition

[586s] and those services need to be provide quickly.

[588s] So I'll always advocate for that, plus I still will and make that we advocate a trans conversion therapy ban, which I hope we do as soon as How concerned

[601s] are you over the environment and climate change and what policies would you most advocate in this area?

[608s] I'm just as concerned as anyone else really and I wouldn't even really put policies up, it's just getting people to start taking care of the area they

[614s] live in more, you know, picking up their litter, composting their waste instead of just throwing it in the bin.

[619s] Simple things that can just really help improve the smaller area and once you start with the small areas it gets bigger and bigger,

[625s] and eventually, hopefully, we can all start As a mother to a young child, I am incredibly concerned about climate change and the planet we are leaving

[636s] our future generations to inherit.

[638s] Labour have committed to GB Energy, a publicly owned energy company that will provide clean energy, green jobs and lower bills.

[646s] And the commitment to clean by 2030 remains.

[650s] We have to make sure our efforts are best spent protecting our planet, ensuring that we do this in a way that protects the poorest people in our community.

[659s] We're in a climate and nature emergency, and this should be a top priority for any government, but sadly the main parties are rolling back from their pledges

[670s] to do just that.

[673s] There isn't time in minute to say all of the things that the Green Party would do to tackle these problems.

[679s] but I'll tell you a few.

[681s] We would ban new oil and gas exploration and we would stop subsidies to the oil-and-gas industry and instead turn attention to cheaper,

[693s] greener, renewable energy, aiming to have 70% wind power by 2030, and community energy projects, which brings down people's bills and means that we're

[705s] not relying on big oil We'd also re-nationalise the water and we'd bring in a Nature Act, a Climate and Nature act, to protect nature from being exploited

[718s] for financial gain.

[720s] The Conservative government's made great strides in tackling climate change and the environment in terms of our policies.

[725s] We've reduced our carbon emissions by over 60% and account for 1% of total carbon emission nationwide.

[732s] So we have to use our government to make sure that other countries follow suit.

[736s] but locally I backed the Fairham Solar Farm which is going to make all of our homes be powered by renewable energy including the council in Fairam and

[744s] we'll continue to back that.

[746s] I want to be sure that the County Council keep our recycling centres open so that we have both at Fair Oak, Batterton and Hedge End we a place to go and

[754s] recycle and don't see fly tipping and I'm also leading a campaign to try and tackle some of the coastal erosion that's we've seen down in Netley and over

[762s] in Walsash too.

[764s] How would you improve health provision?

[767s] I think, you know, starting at a young age, getting them to eat their greens, no more hating broccoli and all the jokes you get when you're younger,

[774s] because that does affect kids.

[775s] If you start, get them into growing their own veg and stuff like that, or just showing them that vegetables aren't that bad,

[782s] it will slowly stop a lot of the health problems that are currently clogging up the NHS, things that could be solved by just a bit of exercise,

[787s] a little bit greenery.

[788s] After 14 years of austerity introduced by the Conservatives in coalition with the Liberal Democrats, our public services are now on their knees through

[798s] years cuts and underfunding.

[799s] Never is this more keenly seen than in our NHS.

[803s] The struggle to get GP and dentist appointments, NHS waiting lists spiralling out of control.

[808s] Labour knows our first job is to stabilise the economy but we have pledged to add 40,000 more GP appointments per week to create efficiency relationships

[818s] between NHS trusts to reduce waiting lists.

[820s] To invest more than any of the other parties in the NHS and in The Care System so that they can work together.

[828s] And to do that, we would levy a modest 1% tax on anyone who has assets over 10 million and a 2% on billionaires.

[840s] Did you know that the top reason why children are admitted to hospital is tooth decay and so the Green Party would invest three billion by 2030 in order

[853s] to make sure that anyone that needs an NHS dentist can get one and get an appointment and the treatment that they really need.

[861s] We'd also invest in mental health services and we'd make that doctors, nurses and practitioners are paid fairly so that we retain them.

[873s] On health services, we need to make sure that we continue to increase the amount of money that was spending, as we have done over the last 14 years.

[880s] But now we see an improvement in those services post-COVID.

[883s] I know there's a huge amount concern about access to GPs and to dentists in our area.

[888s] So I have a solid plan to try and tackle that.

[891s] That includes a walk-in centre at Ferrum Community Hospital and better diagnostic services there.

[896s] It means bringing a GP walk in centre into Whiteley Shopping Centre, something which I'm committed to delivering.

[902s] and a dentistry hub in Hedge End.

[905s] That's what we need to do locally to make sure that as well as seeing GP surgeries provide more appointments we have to have a better provision and better

[913s] spread of services locally.

[915s] One last call, anything you'd like to say?

[919s] One of the things I really advocate for is just shopping locally.

[922s] It's good having big supermarkets that you can go to and get all this cheap stuff from, but food should be cheap and good.

[933s] you should be able to get clothes and jewellery that's made by your neighbours, made from someone you went to school with.

[938s] I believe that we need to start pumping more money and more care into our small businesses because everyone wants them but as soon as they're there,

[946s] people forget about them and then they are gone.

[948s] And if we do that, Chains are going to take over and there's not going be any more jobs for the little people anymore.

[954s] Labour has the best chance it has ever had to win here in this new constituency of Hamble Valley.

[960s] Every day we speak to local people ready to vote for real change.

[964s] They want an MP.

[965s] Who can be their voice to champion local and national issues in government?

[969s] I will be a proper constituency MP serving you.

[974s] It's time for change.

[975s] There is a clear choice at this election.

[978s] More chaos with the Conservatives or stability with Labour.

[982s] Voters in the Hamble Valley know that Britain is great country but it has been badly let down over the last 14 years.

[989s] The Conservatives have left the country worse off than when they started.

[993s] Living standards are down.

[995s] Crime goes unpunished, ambulances never come.

[998s] Schools crumble over our children's heads, mortgages and food prices are through the roof.

[1004s] Labour has a long-term, serious plan to change Britain, stop the chaos and rebuild our country.

[1011s] So if you want real change in Hamble Valley, vote for me, Davina Paul.

[1015s] Vote Labour on the 4th of July.

[1018s] The Hamble Valley is a brand new constituency.

[1021s] There is no tactical voting here.

[1023s] You are free to vote with your heart.

[1026s] you can vote for the values that you really believe in.

[1028s] And if you vote me, I will do my utmost to represent you in Parliament.

[1033s] The Green Party doesn't have a whip.

[1035s] That means that I can, vote, for you.

[1037s] I do not get told how to or what to say.

[1044s] The only thing I'd like to say to the people of Hamble Valley is that I want them to look at my track record over the last five years.

[1050s] I've always stood up for the People of Hamilton Valley and previously Eastley, and I wanted to do that again over next five year.

[1056s] This election is going to be crucial.

[1058s] And I think that we need a local MP that will challenge the decisions of the local Lib Dem Council, but also advocate nationally to make sure we get the

[1067s] investment and services that need.

[1068s] That's why I'm asking for you to vote for me, Paul Holmes, on July 4th.
